Series 16 Hydraulic Rod Magnetostrictive Displacement Sensor Application Cases

Built for hydraulic applications with the highest reliability requirements, the Series 16 includes the standard hydraulic rod version (16), the triple-redundant version (16T) and the harsh-environment version (16E). The 16T integrates three independent measuring systems in a single housing: if one system fails, output continues uninterrupted — essential for safety-related duties such as marine propulsion, power generation equipment and train tilt control.

The 16E uses a fully sealed stainless steel housing rated IP68, resisting heavy contamination, dust and salt spray, with measuring strokes up to 7,600 mm — well suited to port machinery, metallurgical lines and other harsh duties. The entire series withstands 300~600 bar (peak), with protection and mechanical strength designed to industrial field standards.

The Series 16 supports analog voltage/current and Start-Stop outputs, and mounts either as a hydraulic rod or profile sensor, making it easy to integrate into new or retrofitted hydraulic systems.
