Series 13 mobile hydraulic magnetostrictive displacement sensor
Mobile hydraulic, IP68→IP69K, shock/vibration resistant, CANopen optional
Series 13 is optimised for mobile machinery and mobile hydraulics. Its compact form factor integrates completely inside hydraulic cylinders with limited head space. IP68 protection (IP69K with a dedicated waterproof connector) withstands high-pressure water jet cleaning and harsh outdoor conditions. Vibration resistance 25 g (10-2000 Hz) and shock resistance 100 g suit the high dust, heavy contamination and strong vibration of construction machinery. The precision cast stainless steel housing provides excellent corrosion and wear resistance. Three signal output versions are available: 13C (voltage output 0.1-4.9 V), 13M analog (voltage/current output) and 13M CANopen (CANopen or CAN J1939 bus).
Product Overview
Series 13 is a professional-grade displacement sensor tailored for travelling machinery and mobile hydraulic equipment. Its compact form factor can be fully integrated inside hydraulic cylinders with extremely limited headroom, taking up no additional installation space.
Its very high IP68 protection class (up to IP69K with the dedicated M12 waterproof connector) is its core competitive advantage - it withstands the extreme conditions common on construction machinery sites, including high-pressure washer cleaning, mud splash and torrential rain, for truly worry-free all-weather outdoor operation.
Vibration resistance up to 25 g (10-2000 Hz band) and shock resistance up to 100 g (IEC standard 68-2-27 endurance), far exceeding the shock ratings of ordinary industrial sensors and perfectly matched to the severe vibration of heavy equipment such as excavators and loaders.
Three signal output versions are available: the 13C is a compact voltage output (0.1-4.9 V) for simple analog acquisition; the 13M analog supports standard dual voltage/current output; the 13M CANopen supports direct CANopen or CAN J1939 bus protocol for easy connection to vehicle electronic control systems.
Operating Principle
Series 13 uses the same non-contact magnetostrictive measurement principle as the rest of the product line. The current pulse in the waveguide generates a circular magnetic field; when it superimposes with the external permanent position magnet, the magnetostrictive effect is triggered and a strain wave propagates along the waveguide. The electronics module calculates the absolute position of the magnet from the arrival time difference of the strain wave. What makes Series 13 special is that its electronics module and housing are sealed and reinforced for mobile machinery environments - full potting ensures IP68 dust and water protection (IP69K with a dedicated M12 connector, resisting high-pressure high-temperature water jets), while the precision cast stainless steel housing resists abrasive wear from sand and chemical corrosion.

Installation Precautions
- Fix the position magnet with a non-ferromagnetic circlip; ferromagnetic materials will affect measuring accuracy.
- For the 10 mm diameter sensing rod, the minimum bore diameter should be 13.5 mm to ensure adequate installation clearance.
- Keep a clearance of at least 3 mm between the end of the sensing rod and the bottom of the bore to prevent mechanical impact damage to the sensing element.
- Intended for mobile hydraulic equipment. The mounting surface must be flat and parallel to the cylinder axis so that no extra bending moment is applied to the sensor.
- This series is rated as high as IP68 to IP69K and withstands high-pressure washing and brief immersion, but the electrical connectors must still be tightened and sealed according to specification.
- Rated to 25 g vibration and 100 g shock, but direct impact between the sensor body and rigid structures must still be avoided during installation.
- Route the signal cable away from high-current lines such as the vehicle battery and starter motor to reduce electromagnetic interference and voltage drops.
- Wiring must comply with on-board 12 V / 24 V system requirements. Observe polarity protection (-30 Vdc reverse protection) and surge suppression.
Pricing Notes
Series 13 targets mobile hydraulics and construction machinery. Pricing depends on measuring range, output version (13C voltage / 13M analog / 13M CANopen), mechanical interface and protection configuration. The CANopen bus version costs slightly more than the analog version because of the built-in protocol stack. We recommend selecting according to the bus type of the vehicle electronic control system so that we can quote accurately.
