Series 16T triple redundancy: three independent measurements in one tube

Series 16T is for ship propulsion, power-plant valves and train tilt, where position must not be lost. It is not two extra sensors on the cylinder. Three independent measuring systems run in one stainless tube, still driven by a single magnet ring.

16R comparison logic: 16R explained and redundant mounting. Feed 16T's three channels into separate analog inputs — do not average them on the terminals.

Mechanics are still Series 16

Cap Ø18G7, Ø10 rod, piston bore ≥12.7 mm, 350 bar working / 530 bar peak. Do not write Series 17 M18×1.5 or 600 bar peak. Stroke is typically 75–2200 mm, shorter than standard 16 (50–7600 mm).

Outputs remain 160 voltage / 161 current, three paths at once. Connector is often D60 or flying lead. Bore details match Series 16.

When not to use 16T

  • Dual-channel comparison is enough: start with 16R.
  • Immersion, salt spray, TBM wash-down: 16E, not 16T as an IP68 stand-in.
  • The controller has only one analog input: triple redundancy cannot be used.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is 16T three sensors strapped together?

No. Three independent waveguides and electronics in one tube; one magnet ring drives all three.

Q: Is 16T peak pressure 600 bar?

No. Same as Series 16: 350 bar working, 530 bar peak. 600 bar peak is Series 17.

Q: May I average the three readings?

Not recommended. Redundancy is for comparison and switchover. Averaging hides a failed channel.

16T covers measuring-channel failure. 16E covers water and dust on the housing.
