Series 19 H-Type built-in cylinder magnetostrictive displacement sensor
Built directly into hydraulic cylinder body
The H type is designed for fully built-in installation in hydraulic cylinders. The pressure tube and hex flange are made of 100% stainless steel; the sensor is embedded in the cylinder structure, with the electronics housing and measuring unit integrated as one (a modular separate version is also available). Only the connector interface is exposed, giving a fully concealed installation. It suits heavy hydraulic equipment with extreme demands on protection class and space utilisation - such as large injection molding machines, metallurgical hydraulic cylinders and water gate hoists. Pressure rating 300 bar / 600 bar (peak), IP67 protection.
Product Overview
The H-Type is the version within Series 19 designed specifically for fully built-in installation in hydraulic cylinders. The 100% stainless steel pressure-resistant outer tube and hex flange ensure the sensor withstands the high pressure and corrosive environment inside the cylinder.
The sensor is embedded entirely in the cylinder structure, with the electronics housing and measuring element integrated as one unit (a modular separated version is also available for easier maintenance). Only the connector is exposed on the outside, giving a fully concealed, neat installation while minimising the risk of accidental impact damage.
Designed for heavy hydraulic equipment with extreme requirements on protection class and space efficiency - built-in electronic rulers for large injection molding machines, position feedback for metallurgical hydraulic cylinders, travel detection on water conservancy hoists, and more. Pressure rating 300 bar / 600 bar (peak), with IP67 protection ensuring long-term reliable operation.
Operating Principle
The H type uses a built-in magnetostrictive measurement principle similar to Series 17, but reinforced for the higher demands of the process industries. A 100% stainless steel pressure tube and hex flange directly withstand the internal cylinder pressure (300 bar working / 600 bar peak), with the waveguide sealed inside the tube and isolated from the hydraulic oil. The electronics housing is integrated into the flange end (or an optional modular separate electronics housing), with the signal brought out through a sealed connector. A permanent magnet mounted on the piston moves with it, triggering the magnetostrictive effect that is detected and decoded by the electronics module.

Installation Precautions
- 19H is built directly into the cylinder body and must be integrated by the cylinder manufacturer during production. Never retrofit a finished cylinder.
- Machine the mounting cavity and guide according to the drawing, ensuring the waveguide is concentric and clean.
- Otherwise the same as the Series 19 process version; bus versions set the address and termination according to their protocol.
- The ring magnet must not touch the sensor rod; a non-contact gap must be maintained.
- Piston-rod bore ≥12.7 mm (Ø10 rod); actual bore also depends on hydraulic pressure and piston speed. 19H in-cylinder is 300 bar working / 600 bar peak — never exceed that series peak.
- Protect the sensor rod against wear.
Pricing Notes
19H is a cylinder built-in type, usually supplied with the cylinder. The price depends on the measuring range, the output signal (CANbus / Profibus / Profinet / EtherCAT) and the integration method. Please supply the cylinder interface dimensions so we can provide an accurate quotation.
